  • Deserter No.6 – Abdel Qader – 20 years old

“I served in the army for a week and then defected straight away. I slipped a strong sleeping pill into the tea of the officer responsible for our division and then managed to run home without being caught and shot. I would rather die than serve in an army which kills its own people.
Our village was just one of many here in the north that rose up simultaneously against the government and it's security goons, almost immediately the tanks rolled in to quell unrest and everything quickly transpired.
When the shelling got really heavy here my brother was martyred by a piece of shrapnel that pierced the main artery in his neck, he died almost instantly. I am fighting for his honor and more importantly for my country and it's people”.
